For the second consecutive year, Christine E. B. Howard demonstrated her advocacy for women in business by participating as a volunteer judge in a woman-owned technology pitch contest. Christine, like many others, is ready to help change the alarming statistics regarding the gender gap in funding and support for female entrepreneurs and business owners, which is especially evident in the technology sector.
The FinTech competition is a contest that welcomes females in tech to pitch their product or ideas to a panel of judges. The winner receives visibility, mentorship, and funding. The next available competition will be Insurtech, held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 23rd, 2019. All contestants will be granted access to virtual mentorship to hone their pitching skills and fine-tune their growth strategy.
InsureTech will be the fourth installment in a series of FinTech competitions focusing on providing an opportunity to women in tech. InsurTech contestants must focus on business models relevant to providing solutions or gaining a competitive edge over emerging trends in insurance. Focus is on trends and cutting edge technologies such as blockchain, loT, and usage-based or on-demand insurance in the fields of auto, casualty, and property, insurance. This year the health insurance sector has been added to the roster as well.
An online application round will select a group of winning applicants from the FinTech competition who will be invited to compete in the second round of the competition, which will include a 3-5 minute in-person demonstration or pitch to the judging panel. The pitch, which must be delivered by a female founder, co-founder or CEO should include the proposed growth strategy and how mentoring and funding would positively impact the entity.
