  • SBIR Phase 0 program The New York City Regional Innovate Node (NYCIN) has launched a new program to identify and improve the preparation of potential applications for the NSF Small Business Innovation Research (SBIRPhase 1 program. Phase 0 will support eligible teams and existing companies to participate in a 7-week national I-Corps cohort. Teams may receive up to $25,000 in reimbursements for customer-discovery related expenses.


  • SunShot Catalyst Energy Innovation Prize DOE program aimed at addressing time-sensitive market problems in the solar industry. The program transfers business plans to energy startups with products in 90 days, and awards all winning contestants with a total of $1 million in prizes, including $500,000 in cash.


  • 76West Clean Energy Competition 76West focuses on growing entrepreneurs and attracting resources from around the world to build clean energy businesses and jobs in NY’s Southern Tier region. The competition offers $20 million in prize money and support services. The top prize is $1 million. NEXUS-NY winners include Micatu Inc, Biological Energy, and ChromoNanoTech.The 76West Competition application period is open for Round 3. Applications must be received by April 16, 2018, 5:00 p.m. EST.


  • ENTREPRENEURS-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM NYSERDA is seeking proposals from organizations interested in administering the next iteration of the Entrepreneurs-In-Residence Program. NYSERDA’s Entrepreneurs-In-Residence (EIR) Program guides early-stage companies through specific projects and issues, such as staffing for growth, budget management, resource planning, strategic partnering, and board management. This is accomplished through the deployment of highly experienced mentors, the EIRs, who are typically experiencedentrepreneurs or senior executives. EIRs provide advice, mentoring, and a limited amount of consulting, primarily on a project basis. Proposals due: May 2, 2018 by 5:00 p.m. EST.
