The ED/IES SBIR competition (Small Business Innovation Research program at the Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences) just released its annual solicitation! This federal innovation grant provides funding to firms and partners for the research and development and evaluation of commercially viable education technology products.
On December 1, 2020, theED/IES SBIR program released its Fiscal Year 2020/2021 “Phase I” solicitation: Solicitation #91990021R0001 is a request for Phase I proposals for awards up to $200,000 for 8-months for the development of prototypes of education technology products to improve relevant student, teacher, or administrator outcomes in education and special education settings.
While the SBIR program, in general, is very competitive, as demonstrated by its mere 11% success rate of all proposals received, the ED/IES SBIR will likely be extra competitive this year as many innovators will be developing new tools and resources for distance learning in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The submission deadline for all ED/IES SBIR Phase I proposals is January 21, 2021.
