Female Founders in FinTech is made possible by Quesnay, who has 6 years of experience running innovation competitions, creating customized acceleration programs, and developing digital partnership strategies in order to source external ideas/startups and connect them into the clients’ organizations.
Over the 6 years, we recognized the distinct lack of representation and startup funding among women and launched the Female Founders in FinTech program to help solve this problem. In 2016, venture capitalists invested $58.2 billion in companies with all-male founders. Meanwhile, women received just $1.46 billion in venture capital money. This problem is more stark in FinTech. According to a 2017 KPMG report, only 12 out of 500 deals (2%) went to companies founded by women in Fintech.
Launched in 2017, the Female Founders in FinTech program marries support for diversity and innovation into one. The competition recognizes and supports women-led startups and awards them with money, mentorship, education, and introductions to potential business partners.
Quesnay launched the Female Founders in FinTech Competition in 2017 with great success and expanded the program this year with dedicated tracks for InsurTech and FinTech. 2018 kicked off with the InsurTech track which was global in scope and saw a strong pool of finalists pitch to an audience of over 100 industry leaders. Over 200 women-led startups have applied to the program to date. The FinTech Track is now launching on November 12th.
