The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is gearing up to release its 2022 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) solicitation!
DHS has released 11 topics for the new Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) 22.1 Pre-solicitation. During the pre-solicitation period, small businesses can review topics and ask technical questions regarding the topic areas.
Full topic descriptions for the titles listed below can be viewed on Sam.gov. Technical questions should be directed to the technical point of contact for each topic, listed in the 22.1 SBIR Topic Areas document. Small businesses have until 5:00 p.m. ET on December 14, 2021 to submit their questions.
The official solicitation release is scheduled for December 15, 2021, with a due date of January 19th, 2022.
- Phase I typically funds up to $150,000 for five months to determine the scientific and technical merit, and feasibility, of the proposed effort. Phase I awards are typically made within 45 days after selection.
- Phase II typically funds up to $1,000,000 for 24 months to continue the R&D effort from the completed Phase I project and work towards a prototype demonstration. Only SBIR Phase I awardees are eligible to participate in subsequent phases. Options may be exercised for S&T SBIR Phase II projects that have firm commitments for follow-on funding.
