Project management is a series of skills, processes, and protocols to help ensure projects get completed properly, on time, and within budget. But what does this mean in a real-world scenario, and how does it relate to what we do for our clients?
We use traditional project management skills (many of our team members are certified or accredited in project management) blended with experience to create the ideal system for our clients. We have learned through experience and the data we collected the best way to keep clients and our team on track, adhering to deadlines, within project scope, and meeting deliverables at the proper interval. While education on project management, in general, has been helpful, what has been most helpful in working with different clients over the years, each brings their own project needs, team dynamics, unique skill set, and personality. These experiences have each been one of a kind, and every encounter has taught E.B. Howard Consulting a valuable lesson about what is working and what could be improved within our standard operating procedures.
With a strong foundation of traditional project management skills and the lessons we have learned along the way, we were able to blend an agile/scrum methodology of project management with the way we deliver our services to remain collaborative, competitive, and organized. Client feedback indicates we are hitting our target metrics for these goals, and we couldn’t be happier, but that does not mean we are done. Part of what is inspiring about Agile methodology and project management is the constant potential for growth and evolution. With each member of our team setting aside at least ten hours a month for professional development and a wealth of experience with client projects behind us and ahead, we can’t wait to see what our next iteration will bring in terms of client success and satisfaction.
