New Funding Opportunity: DOD SBIR Topic Pre-Release

The Department of Defense has announced the pre-release of a new Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) topic for the Army SBIR program. This new opportunity, Topic A244-P063: “Battery Focused Open Topic,” invites innovative small businesses to propose solutions in the area of battery technology.

Important Dates

  • July 9, 2024: Topic pre-release
  • September 10, 2024: Topic opens for proposal submissions in DSIP
  • October 1, 2024: Topic Q&A closes to new questions at 12:00 p.m. ET
  • October 15, 2024: Topic closes, with full proposals due by 12:00 p.m. ET

Key Requirements

This release contains open topics, allowing small businesses to submit only one proposal per open topic. Each proposing small business must complete the “Disclosures of Foreign Affiliations or Relationships to Foreign Countries” form and upload it in Volume 5, Supporting Documents. Proposals without this form will be deemed noncompliant and will not be evaluated.

Engaging with SBIR Topic Q&A

During the pre-release period, proposers can contact Topic Points of Contact (TPOCs) directly or submit questions via the Topic Q&A page on DSIP. After the proposal submission period begins on September 10, 2024, direct contact with topic authors is no longer permitted. All questions and answers will be posted electronically for general viewing, closing to new questions on October 1, 2024, but remaining available for viewing until the BAA closes.
