New CBD SBIR Topics

These topics are designed to foster innovation in critical areas that impact national security. Whether your expertise lies in therapeutic interventions or advanced chemical sensing technologies, these topics provide a broad scope for innovative solutions.

  • CBD244-P001: “Host Directed Therapeutics for Treatment of Viral Disease – Open Topic”
  • CBD244-P002: “Quantum Chemical Sensing – Open Topic”

Critical Dates to Remember

With any SBIR opportunity, timing is everything. The DoD has outlined several crucial dates for those interested in submitting proposals:

  • August 22, 2024: Topics open, and you can begin submitting your proposals in the Defense SBIR/STTR Innovation Portal (DSIP).
  • September 10, 2024: Topic Q&A closes to new questions at 12:00 p.m. ET. This is your last chance to seek clarification on technical aspects of the topics.
  • September 24, 2024: Full proposals must be submitted in DSIP by 12:00 p.m. ET.

It’s imperative that you mark these dates on your calendar and set reminders. Missing a deadline in the SBIR process is not an option, as late submissions are not accepted.

Important Submission Requirements

A notable change in this BAA release is the requirement for all proposing small business concerns to complete the Disclosures of Foreign Affiliations or Relationships to Foreign Countries. This disclosure is now a webform integrated into Volume 7 of the proposal submission in DSIP.

VIP – Big changes you need to know

  • PDF uploads of this disclosure are no longer accepted.
  • Volume 7 must be fully completed, including the webform submission, before your proposal can be certified and submitted by your Corporate Official.
  • Do not upload previous versions of the disclosure form to Volume 5, as these will not be accepted.

Ensuring that this new requirement is met is crucial to avoid last-minute delays or disqualification of your proposal.

Leveraging the Topic Q&A

The DoD provides a Topic Q&A platform, allowing proposers to submit technical questions related to the topics. This Q&A is a valuable resource, but remember that it closes to new questions on September 10, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. ET.

While you can no longer ask questions after this deadline, the Q&A platform remains accessible, enabling you to review previously answered questions and gain further clarity on the topic requirements.

This BAA release is an exciting opportunity for small businesses to contribute to crucial defense technologies. By carefully adhering to deadlines, fully understanding submission requirements, and utilizing available resources like the Topic Q&A, you can position your proposal for success.
